Why join a group?
- Develop meaningful relationships. Sunday morning worship services are important but insufficient to cultivate the kind of friendships characterized by vulnerability, consistency and trust.
- Put yourself in a position to love others well. Joining a community groups isn’t primarily about desires being met. We also get to invest in the lives of others.
- Be challenged and encouraged towards a committed and practical following of Jesus. Community groups are more than just space to hang out. There is a purpose to these friendships: a following of Jesus together.
- Growth: Have beliefs and behaviors formed through trusted friendships rather than news and social media echo-chambers
Practically what does a community group look like?
Community groups consist of 10-14 people who meeting weekly or every-other-week. A majority of groups meet in homes while a few groups gather at the church. Sermon based discussion tends to be the default mode for our groups but other structures are sprinkled in to keep things fresh and sensitive to the needs of the group.
