How To Give When Giving

HEAR
1.  After hearing the message, spend some time in your group sharing what you recall from it. What struck you, and what questions did it leave you with?

2.  Read Matthew 6:1-4
What word, phrase, or verse stands out to you and why?

TALK
3.  Discuss the idea of being rewarded by God. What do you imagine this reward to be? How has your thinking on this changed over time?

4. Josh mentioned two dangers when giving:  (1) - The desire to call attention to ourselves, and (2) - The desire to be unaccountable. Which one of these do you currently struggle with more? Do you sense God challenging you in this area?

LIVE
5.  If everything is God’s and we are stewards, what does it look like to steward your resources well? What are some principles that you follow?

6.  Giving is supposed to be fun and communal. How can you make generosity something to celebrate with those you love? Who can you talk to about your standard of giving?

7.  Acknowledge generosity when you see it (anonymous or not) - not to puff someone up - but to highlight the effect it has on yourself and others. In this way we can together teach the next generation about generosity.

PRAY
Heavenly Father, thank you for your many blessings.  Help us to give back with open hands, and work in our hearts so that we give for the right reasons.  You see our true motives - we ask that you would give us your motives as you transform us.
